The Beautiful Mosaic of Love & Connection

I hope you’re stepping into this new week feeling good! Before we dive in, take a moment to celebrate a win in your marriage, from last week—big or small. Maybe you spoke with a softer tone, offered a genuine compliment, or simply showed up a little better than before. These little moments add up to something beautiful in your marriage and life.

The Many Roles We Play & The Love We Receive

When we get married, it’s easy to believe our spouse should be everything—our best friend, our deep thinker, our adventure buddy, our safe place, our late-night talker, our problem solver. But that’s a lot of pressure to put on one person.

The truth is, life gives us different people to meet different needs.

  • A friend who makes us laugh.

  • The one who binge-watches our favorite show.

  • The one who understands our quirks without explanation.

  • A mentor who inspires us.

  • The colleague who helps us in a pinch.

  • Even a stranger who, with a kind word, changes our day.

This week is especially meaningful for me because I happen to be in Paris with some of the people who have filled such beautiful places in my life—my sisters. Being the youngest, they’ve walked with me through nearly every season of my life, each playing a unique and special role in shaping who I am. This trip is a reminder of how grateful I am to have sisters who are also my best friends. And I’m equally grateful for Rory, who not only supported me in taking this trip but truly shares in my happiness. That kind of love—the kind that celebrates each other’s joy—is a gift.

All of these relationships add richness to life. And while your spouse may meet more of your needs than anyone else, they aren’t meant to meet all of them. It’s a gift to have others who bring out different sides of us, and it’s just as important to give our spouse the space to have those people in their life too.

So this week, be mindful of the beautiful web of connections that make your life full. Show appreciation for those who uplift you, and be that person for someone else.

Wishing you love, connection, and grace this week.
