Get Your Marriage Ready for 2025 – Part 1: The Marriage Audit

As the year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re headed—especially in your marriage. This is the relationship that can bring unparalleled joy, connection, and strength to your life, and now is the time to take stock.

The Marriage Audit: Celebrate Your Wins, Reflect on Growth

Think of this as your chance to sit down and truly celebrate your journey together over the last 12 months. Don’t just glance back—take a deep, intentional look.

Start with how far you’ve come. Maybe January began with a few struggles, but you tackled them head-on. Or perhaps this was a year where small, everyday gestures—like making the bed or carving out time for a weekly date—added up to big improvements in your connection.

Think about:

The wins: What memories did you create together this year? Did you master holiday expectations, communicate more clearly, or work together on family goals?

The sacrifices: Did one of you make a selfless gesture to support the other?

The growth: Are there areas where you’ve softened, grown, or learned to love better?

Here’s what I want you to do this week:

1. Reflect on the Past Year

Sit down with a journal (or your favorite notes app) and answer these questions:

What moments or habits made me feel most connected to my spouse this year?

What was one tough conversation we had that led to greater understanding or trust?

What small gestures, routines, or traditions brought joy into our marriage?

In what ways has our marriage grown spiritually, emotionally, or practically?

2. Identify What You Want to Build On

As you reflect, think about one small change or habit you’d love to embrace in the new year. Maybe it’s greeting your spouse warmly when they walk through the door, texting them during the day just to say “I love you,” or taking time to truly listen during dinner.

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s progress. Celebrate what you’ve accomplished and get excited about where you’re going.

We Did It—Together

When you stop to think about it, you’ll realize: You did it. You faced another year together—through the seasons, the holidays, the busy days, and the quiet ones. That’s something worth celebrating.

Next week, we’ll dive into part two: creating your game plan for 2025. Together, we’ll set goals and craft small, meaningful habits to strengthen your connection and bring more joy into your marriage every day.

We’ve Come So Far – Let’s Celebrate It Together

Merry Christmas!

As you reflect on your journey, let the song "How Far We Have Come" fill you with inspiration. It’s a beautiful reminder of the strength and love in every moment of your relationship. Take a moment to listen with your spouse and celebrate the path you’ve walked together.
