Choosing light in a heavy world
This past week has felt heavy. The tragic deaths of the young Ukrainian girl in North Carolina and Charlie Kirk’s passing after speaking at Utah Valley University have caused me to pause and reflect. While there have been other heartbreaking events, these stood out to me and stirred something deep in my heart.
Moments like these remind us how fragile life truly is. A conversation, a hug, or a chance to stand up for truth—none of us knows if it might be the last. These events pressed me to think about my courage to stand for Jesus Christ, my love for family, and the importance of valuing life, liberty, and freedom in our society.
But in the midst of the sorrow, I’ve also seen so much light—people sharing words of hope, acts of kindness, and courage to keep moving forward. That has inspired me to add more goodness to the world, starting in my own home.
One thing I always admired about Charlie was his love for family—the way he reminded us that strong families are the backbone of a healthy society. His example makes me want to hug my loved ones tighter, mend fences, forgive quickly, and lean into the work of making my relationships meaningful and fulfilling.
This Week’s Challenge 💛
Take a few moments for honest reflection—are your life, relationships, and values aligned with what you truly believe?
Go out and spread some light—extend compassion to yourself, your family, your neighbors, and beyond.
We don’t know how much time we have. Let’s live in a way that, if today were our last, we’d be at peace with how we loved, forgave, and stood for truth.
Until next week, I know these events have touched us all, but I also know we can come out stronger, kinder, and more connected on the other side.
